The highly-rated youngster missed the whole of the 2019-2020 campaign due to an undisclosed ailment.
Manager Steve Bould named the fit-again Okonkwo and four other players of Nigerian descent in his starting lineup as Arsenal defeated League Two side Crawley Town 2-1 in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
The young shot-stopper was excellent for the U23 squad towards the end
of the 2018-2019 campaign, keeping three clean sheets in four appearances
in the Premier League 2 and was expected to cement his spot in the side last term if not for injury.
Writing on Instagram, Okonkwo said : "First Game back!😄Great way to do it with a win ✅".
The 19-year-old Okonkwo signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in 2018, a deal that keeps him at the Emirates Stadium until at least June 30, 2021.
He has trained with Arsenal's first team on multiple occasions, including this season.
