Liverpool's Nigeria-Eligible Striker Babajide Scores In 3-1 Win Vs Manchester United
Published: October 07, 2020Nigeria-eligible striker Rinsola Babajide was on target as Liverpool FC Women came from behind to beat Manchester United 3-1 in their opening match of the Continental Cup at Prenton Park on Wednesday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
On 28 minutes, the visitors took the lead through Abbie McManus who headed home after a corner was not properly defended but the two teams were level at the break thanks to Rachel Furness' well-taken spot kick.
Liverpool's first change saw Babajide coming on to replace Amalie Thestrup at half-time.
The former Watford and Millwall Lionesses striker added a second for the home team when she scored from the spot after Clarke was fouled in the box at minute 71, before Furness nodded home to wrap up the scoring with eight minutes remaining.
Babajide opened her goalscoring account for 2020-21 in a Championship clash against London Bees on September 13.
A member of the England squad that won the bronze medal at the 2018 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, she was invited to train with the Three Lionesses last month.
