Nigeria, England And Germany To Battle For Services Of Chelsea's Attack-Minded Fullback Abu
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that Derrick Abu is the subject of a three-way tug of war for his services at international level.

Abu was born in Regensburg in south-east Germany to Nigerian parents and relocated to England as a child with his family in 2005, making him eligible to play for three nations namely Germany, Nigeria and England.

The first-year scholar at Chelsea wanted to represent the Golden Eaglets at last year's FIFA U17 World Cup but couldn't establish contact with the Nigerian Federation and the coaching staff led by Manu Garba as at that time.

The English Football Association handed Abu a maiden call-up to England U17 squad in January 2020 and he went on to make his full debut for the Young Lions in a 4-2 win vs Russia on February 8 and retained his place in the starting lineup in the 4-0 rout of Ukraine two days later.

Despite England being the first nation to cap him, it is understood that the teenage defender has not yet decided on the senior national team to represent, meaning there's a possibility of him playing for Nigeria or Germany in future.

Sheffield Wednesday summer signing Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Manchester City's Felix Nmecha, Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala and Ipswich Town's Keanan Bennetts are qualified to play international football for Germany, England or Nigeria just like Abu.

Attack-minded fullback Abu made his competitive debut for Chelsea in the U18 Premier League against Crystal Palace on Friday, October 2.
