'He Totally Deserves That Chance' - Arsenal Manager Extremely Happy Saka Received England Call-up
Published: October 02, 2020Arsenal first-team manager Mikel Arteta was very delighted after Nigerian Federation target Bukayo Saka received his first-ever call-up to England's senior team ahead of upcoming games against Wales, Belgium and Denmark.
Barring an injury, the Hale End Academy product, who has been listed as a defender, is competing directly with the more experienced Chelsea star Ben Chilwell for a starting spot at left-back in the international fixtures this month.
There has been a lot of hype around Saka following a breakout 2019-2020 that saw him finish as Arsenal's top assist provider after setting up 12 goals and his stock rose even further last month as he was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year.
Speaking after Arsenal's win on penalties against Liverpool, Arteta told the official website of the Gunners : "I’m extremely happy with him - he totally deserves that chance.
"He's a really humble boy who's willing to learn every single day.He works really hard and he has an incredible talent.
"It's a combination of everything you need to be successful and I think that call-up is going to fill him with confidence even more, and I'm really happy for him."
Arsenal's most exciting player under the age of 20 at the moment, Saka started and was in action for 86 minutes in yesterday's win against Liverpool.
