The Reason Anjorin Has Not Played For Chelsea Teams In The New Season
Published: September 25, 2020Faustino Anjorin has been left out of Chelsea's matchday squad in their ongoing Premier League 2 clash against Brighton & Hove at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre (Lancing, West Sussex).
The England U19 international of Nigerian descent has yet to taste action for any of the Chelsea teams in the new season.
It has come to light that Anjorin was out of action due to injury but the versatile midfielder has returned to training following his spell on the sidelines, Chelsea Youth has informed.
The Anglo-Nigerian was not considered for first team games against Brighton & Hove and Liverpool and missed U23 matches with West Ham and Southampton as well as the EFL Trophy clash with Oxford United.
Last season, the 18-year-old made his debuts for Chelsea in the Premier League and Carabao Cup, logging 42 minutes in both matches against Everton and Grimsby Town.
Though a season-long loan deal may make sense as he is not guaranteed first team football this campaign, he wants to stay at Chelsea unless he gets an offer too good to refuse.
Anjorin showed his quality for Chelsea U23 in 2019-20, ending the season as their top scorer in the Premier League 2 with five goals, with one of his strikes nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Season accolade.
