Montsma made it 6-2 before Divock Origi added gloss to the scoreline with an 89th minute strike.
At the Etihad Stadium, Nnamdi Ofoborh put in a solid 90-minute shift at the heart of defence as Bournemouth lost 2-1 to defending champions Manchester City.
Former Denmark U21 international Philip Billing also went the full ninety for the Cherries, City youngster Felix Nmecha was a non-playing substitute and Dominic Solanke wasn't in the 18.
Liam Delap on his senior debut opened the scoring after 18 minutes only for Sam Surridge to restore parity four minutes later. Fourteen minutes from time, Phil Foden netted the winning goal.
