Odubeko Missed Trip To Chelsea As Moyes Planned To Hand Him West Ham Debut Vs Charlton
Published: September 15, 2020Highly talented Nigerian striker Ademipo Odubeko was conspicuously absent from West Ham U23s matchday squad as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Premier League 2 champions Chelsea on Monday afternoon.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that the former Manchester United wonderkid was not due to travel with the Hammers squad to Kingsmeadow from the word go because he was in contention to make his professional debut against Charlton Athletic in a Carabao Cup second-round tie this evening.
West Ham boss David Moyes was impressed with the goalscoring heroics of Odubeko on his EFL Trophy debut against League Two side Southend United and had included the 17-year-old in his provisional squad to face the Addicks.
However, the promising teenager is no longer available for selection after he suffered a training ground injury two days ago.
Odubeko made his non-competitive debut for West Ham's first team in a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road on August 25, coming off the bench for the final ten minutes.
He will be disappointed missing out on the game against Charlton Athletic after scoring on his debuts for West Ham in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, FA Youth Cup and EFL Trophy.
