Pacy Winger Of Nigerian Descent Quits Manchester United After Rejecting New Contract
Published: September 11, 2020According to the PA News Agency, Irish-born starlet of Nigerian descent, Deji Sotona has quit Manchester United after rejecting a new contract.
The
Red Devils offered the promising teenager a three-year professional
contract but the parties couldn't reach an agreement because the
player's wage demands of just under five figures per week was considered
excessive.
In
addition, Sotona decided to move on to pastures new because he feels his
chance of breaking into Manchester United's first team is not
attainable, with the likes of Dillon Hoogewerf and Shola Shoretire also
pushing for promotion.
A pacy winger, he signed
a scholarship with Manchester United in the summer of 2019 and made 15
appearances in the U18 Premier League last term, scoring 4 goals.
United
have more or less confirmed that Sotona has departed the club as his
player profile has been deleted from the club's official website and
he's no longer listed on the U18 and U23s roster.
The 2002-born player also featured in the FA Youth Cup and EFL Trophy last season.
