Nigerian Striker On Target As Chelsea Beat Crystal Palace U18 In Pre-season Friendly
Published: September 05, 2020Chelsea U18s continued their preparations for the new season with a friendly against Crystal Palace on Saturday morning, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Blues secured a 2-0 win against the Eagles with Nigeria-eligible striker Bryan Fiabema getting on the scoresheet while the other goal was scored by first year scholar Silko Thomas.
Signed from Tromso IL in the January transfer window following a successful trial, Fiabema was able to make his competitive debut in the U18 Premier League and Premier League 2 before the Academy season was curtailed.
However, the two appearances against Brighton & Hove and Everton came off the bench.
While the promising attacker is in contention to make his debut in next season's UEFA Youth League, it is all but confirmed that he won't be available for selection in the UEFA Champions League as he has been on the books of the Stamford Bridge outfit for less than two years and does not qualify to be included on the List B.
The other players of Nigerian descent set to feature for Chelsea U18s in the coming season are fullback Derrick Abu and goalkeepers Kelechi Chibueze and Prince Adegoke.
