Republic Of Ireland In Line To Cap-tie Idah As Norwich Striker Receives First Senior Call-up
Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has named a 23-man roster for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, with Norwich City striker Adam Idah part of the group, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

This is the first time Idah has been summoned to the Republic of Ireland senior squad, a reward for his imperious displays for their youth teams, with over 20 goals at all levels.

The 2001-born attacker is in the frame to play a cap-tying game for Republic of Ireland when they take on Bulgaria on September 3 and if that does not come to fruition, he has another opportunity to make his senior debut against Finland on September 6.

Idah qualifies to represent the Super Eagles through his Nigerian dad, Charles Idah, but he's unlikely to switch allegiance to the three-time African champions now or in the future because he has a frosty relationship with his father.

He featured in 16 games for Norwich City's first team last season and the highlight of his performances was bagging his first career hat-trick in a 4-2 win against Preston North End in the third round of the FA Cup.

Another striker of Nigerian descent in Southampton's Michael Obafemi was cap-tied by Ireland around two years ago, and based on the proposed new FIFA rules could apply for a change of association if he continues to remain out of favour.

Idah is among the seven players classed as forwards named to the latest Republic of Ireland squad.
