Ex-Tottenham Star Onomah Scores Brilliant Solo Goal As Fulham Beat Cardiff City In Championship Play-offs
Published: July 27, 2020Fulham have one foot in the Championship playoff final after beating Cardiff City 2-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Cottagers, relegated from the Premier League in 2018-19, reached the playoffs after finishing in fourth position in the regular season.
Both teams retreated to the dressing room at half-time with the score goalless, however, Nigeria-eligible midfielder Josh Onomah had a chance to break the deadlock at minute 39 but goalkeeper Smithies was quick to get off the line to deny him at the back post.
The breakthrough finally arrived three minutes after the restart when Onomah scored a brilliant solo goal, ghosting past three defenders before side-footing home.
It was his fourth goal of the season but his third in July, having netted against Birmingham City and Cardiff City in the regular season.
In injury time, Neeskens Kebano gave Fulham a two-goal advantage when he curled home a sublime free-kick.
Onomah has 13 games under his belt in the English Premier League, earned during his time with Tottenham Hotspur.
