Fenerbahce Join Galatasaray, Racing Genk In Race To Sign 18-Goal Nigerian Striker
Published: June 19, 2020Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are the latest club being linked with a move for Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers.
Belgian media outlet Voetbalniews has suggested that Racing Genk are in pole position to sign the Heracles Almelo goal poacher but face competition from Fenerbahce as well as Galatasaray.
The cost of signing Dessers could be a stumbling block for Genk as they have been quoted a fee of five to six million euros.
The 25-year-old was born in Belgian and would prefer a move to Genk over his suitors in Turkey.
In the 2019-2020 season, Dessers tallied 18 goals in all competitions, with 15 netted in the Eredivisie making him the top scorer in the division, and earned his maiden call-up to the Nigerian national team for two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
Before moving to the Netherlands in 2016, Dessers wore the colours of FC De Zwaluw Vechmaal, Union FC Rutten, SK Tongeren, St-Truiden, SK Tongeren, Oud-Heverlee Leuven and Lokeren in Belgium.
