'A blessing from God' - Former Besiktas midfielder suggests Osimhen gives Galatasaray unfair advantage
Published: February 05, 2025Former Beşiktaş midfielder Sinan Engin has suggested that Galatasaray's signing of Victor Osimhen last September has given them an unfair advantage.
The former African Footballer of the Year transferred to The Lion after failed deadline day moves to Premier League giants Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli in the summer transfer window of 2024.
Osimhen has made a splash since his move to Galatasaray, registering twenty-two goal involvements (17 goals, 5 assists) in 22 outings.
With the Napoli loanee in the Galatasaray squad, the team went on a 20-game unbeaten run until they were finally defeated by Ajax Amsterdam in a Europa League encounter at the end of January.
Osimhen's excellent performances have helped Galatasaray establish a six-point advantage over Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig standings while also sealing their place in the Europa League knockout phase.
Speaking on the Asist Analiz Youtube channel, via habersarikirmizi.com, Sinan Engin stated: "Osimhen , unfair competition. A blessing from God to Galatasaray.
"It is a great chance for such a transfer to happen. He also makes the team play."
Galatasaray have set the ball rolling to sign Osimhen on a permanent deal at the end of the season but are likely to be priced out of a deal, with Napoli valuing the former Lille man at 75 million euros.
In addition, the Istanbul club do not have the financial muscle to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Juventus, both of whom have been linked with the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner.
