Bordeaux Striker Pockets More Than Thirteen Times The Wages He Was Paid At Sunderland
Published: April 05, 2020Nigeria international Josh Maja saw a huge increase in his wages when he moved to Bordeaux in January 2019, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Sunderland agreed to do business with their French counterparts after accepting a bid of 1.7 million euros for the services of the striker.
Celebrated French sports daily L’Equipe has revealed that Maja takes home 65,000 euros every month at Bordeaux, excluding performances related bonuses.
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald told the Roker Rapport podcast in 2019 that the Anglo-Nigerian was earning less than 1,135.59 euros per week or €4,866.81 every month at the Black Cats, meaning he now earns more than thirteen times the wages he received while in England.
Maja is represented by Emeka Obasi's Elite Project Group Limited, the same agency that brokered the deals that took Nigeria-eligible youngsters Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina, Chuba Akpom, Sheyi Ojo and Joe Aribo to non-English clubs.
Since transferring to Bordeaux, the 21-year-old has been involved in 31 games across all competitions, scoring nine goals.
Maja earns less than Bordeaux and international teammate Samuel Kalu, who takes home 85,000 euros per month at the Ligue 1 club.
