The Super Eagles 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Benin originally scheduled to be played in June has been postponed following a recommendation by the FIFA-Confederations working group on Friday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The FIFA-Confederations working group recommended that all international matches slated for June should be postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic which has halted most leagues around the world.
Last month, CAF, the body that oversees African football, postponed the AFCON qualifiers between Nigeria and Sierra Leone because of the impact of the coronavirus crisis.
Concerning the men's international match calendar, FIFA's working group recommended :
"To postpone all international matches due to be played during the upcoming June 2020 window; and
"To organise bilateral discussions with confederations concerning 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in order to finalise a revised match schedule pending health and safety developments."

After two games in Group L of AFCON qualifying, the Super Eagles lead the way with six points following back-to-back wins against Benin and Lesotho.
