Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Paderborn left-back Jamilu Collins have cracked a list of top six interceptors (per game) in the big five European Leagues consisting of English Premier League, French Ligue 1, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga.
According to statistics sourced from Whoscored.com, allnigeriasoccer.com can report that only Diego Rico (Bournemouth), Omar Mascarell (Schalke 04) and Theodor Gebre Selassie (Werder Bremen) have averaged more interceptions per game than the Foxes number 25 this season.
Ndidi is Nigeria's best performer, averaging 2.7 interceptions per game to place first ahead of international teammate Collins who is sixth (2.6 interceptions) overall in the ranking.
The Nath Boys product racked up season-high five interceptions in Premier League matches against Burnley, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and had zero interceptions against West Ham and Crystal Palace.
As for Collins, his best individual performance when it comes to interceptions was against Bayer Leverkusen on his Bundesliga debut when he finished with six.
The next highest ranked Super Eagles player is Torino wing-back Ola Aina, who has averaged 1.7 interceptions per game and is 110th overall.
