Stoke City-Owned Etebo, Porto Loanee Awaziem May Have Loan Deals Extended Due To Enforced Break
Published: March 24, 2020There is a chance that the Spanish La Liga will go on well beyond June 30th, as opposed to the earlier closing date due to the Covid-19 enforced break and this could mean prolonged loan spells for two Super Eagles stars plying their trade in the top flight.
Well respected Spanish football publication Marca is reporting that there could be an amendment to several loanees who will no longer be under contracts with their loan clubs by the time the final round of games comes around.
According to the jurisdiction, it is explained that every of the players are subject to Spanish labour laws just like any worker and that there could be complications if their deals do don't follow it's course.
Two Super Eagles stars in the mould of Oghenekaro Etebo and Chidozie Awaziem are among the prominent loanees in La Liga, with Getafe and Leganes respectively.
Etebo joined Getafe from Stoke City in January to spend the remainder of the 2019-2020 season while Awaziem was loaned in by Leganes on a season-long deal from Portuguese setup Porto in August last year.
Kenneth Omeruo (also of Leganes), Mujaid Sadick Aliu (Deportivo La Coruña), Emmanuel Apeh (Celta Vigo) and Ramon Azeez (Granada) are some of the high-profile Nigerians currently on the books of clubs in the top two divisions in Spain.
