Joshua Zirkzee has been rewarded for his outstanding performances for Bayern Munich after he was included in Netherlands U21 provisional squad on Wednesday, March 11, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Dutch-Nigerian starlet is among four new players named in Netherlands U21 provisional squad by KNVB coach Erwin van de Looi, the others being Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax), Lutsharel Geertruida (Feyenoord) and Sven Botman (SC Heerenveen).
Netherlands U21s will face Belarus and Portugal in European U21 Championship qualifiers on March 27 and March 31 respectively.
The final roster will be announced by the Dutch Federation on Friday, March 20, and it is a foregone conclusion that Zirkzee will be part of the group barring an injury.
The 18-year-old made his debut for Netherlands U19s in March 2019 after previously playing for the U15, U16, U17 and U18 teams.
The Nigeria Football Federation and manager Gernot Rohr are attempting to convince Zirkzee to pledge his international future to the Super Eagles over his country of birth.
