The Nigeria Football Federation have announced that former Everton and Norwich City central defender Joseph Yobo has been appointed as the Super Eagles assistant coach, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Yobo represented the Flying Eagles at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship, helping them reach the quarterfinals of the competition and appeared in six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments before hanging up his boots.
He was the Super Eagles captain to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, where they won their third continental title.
Yobo's professional career kicked off in 1998 at Standard Liege in Belgium and from there he moved to Marseille, before loan spells at Tenerife and Everton.
The 39-year-old completed a permanent move to the Toffees in 2003, staying there for nine years before sealing a switch to Fenerbahce in 2012 after impressing on loan at the Turkish Super Lig side.
