Confirmed : Swedish-Nigerian Striker Departs Grimsby Town By Mutual Consent
Published: January 14, 2020League Two club Grimsby Town write on their official website that Nigerian-born striker Moses Ogbu has left the club by mutual consent, less than seven months after his arrival at Blundell Park.
During his short time with the Mariners, the Swedish-Nigerian appeared in 25 matches, including against Chelsea in the third round of the Carabao Cup, scoring four goals.
Explaining the reason why Ogbu terminated his contract, Grimsby Town manager Ian Holloway told Radio Humberside that the striker was feeling homesick.
"I believe that he needs to go back to where he came from and see if he can be happy again,'' Holloway stated.
"The boy took it brilliantly. He admitted that he hasn't seen his family in Nigeria for over a year, so we had a big hug at the end of it and I told the lads that."
