Former Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu has reunited with legendary coach Arsene Wenger ahead of the 28th edition of the CAF Football Awards which will hold at the Albatros Citadel Hotel Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada this evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Kanu took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that he was delighted to see the former Arsenal manager in Egypt before the awards ceremony.
Wenger took a gamble when he signed the Nigerian in February 1999 as many people believed the striker could no longer play at a high level after he was diagnosed with a heart problem which required surgery.
Kanu was a member of the Arsenal Invincibles that finished the 2003-2004 season undefeated and went 49 games unbeaten before losing to Manchester United.
Under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger, Kanu won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Community Shield during his time at the North London club.
One of the most decorated Nigerian footballers of all time, the onetime Ajax Amsterdam and Inter Milan star was a two-time winner of the African Footballer of the Year, in 1996 and 1999, before hanging up his boots.
