Samuel Kalu has landed in hot water with Bordeaux after refusing to show up at the Ligue 1 club ahead of their first game of 2020 against Le Mans on Friday, January 3.
The absent Super Eagles winger has not been included in the 18-man group for the Coupe de France clash at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique (Bordeaux).
Kalu has claimed that he is held up in Nigeria due to an issue with his passport, but Bordeaux coach Paulo Sousa does not believe his story and has vowed that the player will be disciplined whenever he returns to the club.
Speaking to reporters at the pre-match press conference, Sousa said : "All players who come to play here must be aware of this and be exemplary for the club and the team.
"Each player who tries to fake things or who does not have adequate responsibility vis-à-vis the club must be punished."
Meanwhile, Josh Maja's fitness worries are behind him and the former Sunderland starlet is among the four strikers summoned for tonight's clash against Le Mans.
