Roma Loanee Sadiq Achieves Scoring Feat Not Managed By Messi, Lewandowski, Mane
Published: December 28, 2019Former Nigeria U23 international Umar Sadiq is the most decisive Nigerian player in Europe so far in the 2019-2020 campaign, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Roma loanee is the only Nigerian player to have reached double figures for goals and assists this season, a feat which has not been managed by the likes of Barcelona's Lionel Messi (13 goals, 6 assists), Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski (19 goals, 2 assists) and African Player of the Year in waiting, Liverpool's Sadio Mane (9 goals, 6 assists).
The Partizan Belgrade frontman has directly contributed to an astonishing 21 goals (11 goals, 10 assists) in 18 matches in the Serbian Super Liga so far this season.
Sadiq has risen to the challenge since moving to Serbia in the summer transfer window after a difficult spell at Glasgow Rangers, where he claimed even Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard conspired against him.
The 22-year-old also showed his quality in the Europa League qualifying rounds and group stage, having a hand in 7 goals (5 goals, 2 assists) from 12 appearances.
If he continues his consistency in the second half of the season, then a Super Eagles call-up and a move to a more glamorous team could be in the offing in 2020.
