Club Brugge welcomed Zulte-Waregem to the Jan Breydelstadion in their final game of 2019 on Thursday evening.
The home team ran out comfortable winners, thrashing the opponents 4-0 thanks to a double from Nigeria U23 international David Okereke, and Krepin Diatta and Ruud Vormer adding to the goals.
Okereke was influential after coming off the bench to replace compatriot Emmanuel Dennis in the 59th minute, scoring a pair of goals in the space of three minutes.
Two minutes after his introduction, the Nigerian doubled the advantage, before making it 3-0 in the 64th minute as he beat a Zulte-Waregem defender and fired a left-footed strike past goalkeeper Sammy Bossut.
Okereke ended the first half of the season as Club Brugge's joint leading scorer in the league with 9 goals from 17 games, level with Hans Vanaken.
The 22-year-old has been involved in 27 matches in all competitions since his big money move from Spezia in the summer of 2019.
Club Brugge, who top the Belgian First Division A table with 49 points from 20 games, travel to Anderlecht in their first league game of 2020 on Sunday, January 19.
