Tammy Abraham's international future continues to be a subject of discussion among pundits and coaches as he is eligible to represent either Nigeria or England.
Nigeria's FA president Amaju Pinnick urged the player to choose the West African powerhouse because he has better chances of playing regularly for the team.
On the contrary, former England international Ray Parlour has advised the England U21 striker to pick England despite Nigeria's move for his services.
According to Parlour, the in-form Chelsea striker should continue his career with the Three lions of England despite his inability to make Southgate's recent squad list.
"Once you start with a country as a youngster, I think you should stick with them,'' Parlour told talkSPORT.
"It's up to the player; he's looking at whether he'll get an opportunity. It's a battle, because there are a lot of good players at England, and you'll get a lot more caps if you go elsewhere."
The former Arsenal midfielder reckons that Abraham will be handed a recall to Southgate's team if he maintains his current goalscoring form.
"If he keeps scoring goals, he will definitely get into the England squad. He's got an opportunity to be in the squad, but obviously he won't be in front of Harry Kane.
"As a manager, you'd be on the phone straight away saying, 'You're in my plans, keep playing as you are, and you'll get an opportunity'. That's what I'd be doing if I was Gareth Southgate." he concluded
Abraham has featured in two friendly matches for the Three Lions but he is still eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the future.
Meanwhile, both countries will have to wait until April next year to know the player's final decision over his international career.
