Hleb Edges Iwobi In Battle Of Two Eras Comparison As Manchester United Host Arsenal
Published: December 05, 2018Nigeria international Alex Iwobi's performances for Arsenal is not deemed to be better than Belarusian and former Arsenal winger Aleksandr Hleb as the battle at Old Trafford beckons.
Givemesport.com on Wednesday evening ran a comparison of Arsenal players who last won at Old Trafford in September 2006 - a 1-0 win and the current Arsenal players under head coach Unai Enwry.
Givemesport opted to field the BATE Borisov forward in their combined XI at the expense of the Super Eagles star.
"Aleksandr Hleb played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2008 and was part of the team that reached the 2006 Champions League final and the 2007 League Cup final.
"The Belarusian can play on the wing or behind the striker and still plays at the age of 37 for BATE Borisov," it wrote on the onetime Gunners fans' favourite who later signed for Barcelona but had a torrid spell at Camp Nou.
As for Iwobi, the piece stated that he is a much more better player but comes short in making their combined XI of the two eras.
"Iwobi has improved dramatically under Emery after looking to be surplus to requirements.
"The Nigerian winger has blistering pace and an art for dribbling but up and till very recently has struggled for consistency and therefore regular game time. This swings it," with reference to Hleb shading it.
The Manchester United versus Arsenal clash kicks off at 9pm Nigerian time.
