EFL Trophy Team News: AFC Wimbledon's Nigerian Captain Rated As Doubtful For Showdown Vs Chelsea
Published: December 04, 2018Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that AFC Wimbledon captain Deji Oshilaja is unlikely to suit up for the League One club when they trade tackles with Chelsea U21 in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening.
The central defender has failed a fitness test after picking up a slight knock in the Dons 3-1 win at Halifax Town in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, a game in which he provided an assist for his team's second goal.
The 25-year-old Oshilaja has played only once for AFC Wimbledon in the Checkatrade Trophy this term, an appearance as a substitute in the 4-0 win against Stevenage FC last month.
He was not in the squad vs Charlton Athletic and was a non-playing substitute against Swansea U23s.
Chelsea duo Faustino Anjorin and Tariq Uwakwe are in contention to gain valuable experience playing against the first team of an EFL club.
The winner of this evening's match will advance to the last sixteen.
