Super Eagles Watch : Ighalo Sets New Record; Aaron Samuel Scores On Debut; Aina Strikes The Post
Published: October 28, 2018Odion Ighalo returned to action for Changchun Yatai on Saturday after sitting out last weekend's match against Beijing Sinobo Guoan due to a suspension.
The Super Eagles star was on target in the 88th minute of Changchun Yatai's 2-1 loss to Chongqing Dangdai Lifan and in doing so, he set a new personal-high single-season scoring record.
Ighalo's previous best was back in the 2014-2015 season when he netted 20 league goals for Watford but he has now bettered that record by one goal, having netted his 21st goal in the Chinese Super League yesterday.
Another Super Eagles striker, Aaron Samuel, netted on his league debut for Beitar Jerusalem but could not prevent his new employer from losing 5-1 to Bnei Yehuda at Teddi Malcha Stadium on Saturday evening.
Samuel scored arguably the pick of the goals with a left-footed strike from outside the box.
Chelsea loanee Ola Aina was not credited with what would have been his maiden goal in the Italian topflight in Torino's 1-1 draw with Fiorentina at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
The Super Eagles fullback cut inside and struck the post with a shot from inside the area, the ball bounced back and hit the goalkeeper before going inside the net in the 13th minute.
