Rohr Plays Down Suggestions Libya Coach Resignation Worked To Super Eagles Advantage
Published: October 27, 2018Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has played down suggestions that the surprising resignation of Libya National Team coach, Adel Amrouche ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers worked to his team's advantage.
In truth, the camp of the Mediterranean Knights was thrown into disarray after the Algerian football tactician suddenly walked away from the job three days before their trip to Uyo for the third round of matches in Group E.
Interim coach, Omar Al-Miryami, was heavily criticized for his tactical naivety especially in the first leg in Uyo where they conceded four goals, their heaviest defeat since losing to Congo DR in a World Cup qualifier in October 2016.
''To be honest, I never thought about it. Their team stayed the same and played well again,'' Rohr explained to Kick Off Magazine.
''Libya was unbeaten in their last five games and it was not important for us which coach was on the sidelines because the team and players stayed the same.''

Rohr will attempt to win a fourth successive game for the first time since he was appointed Nigeria coach when the three-time African champions face South Africa in Soccer City on November 17.
