Chelsea Coach Reveals Why He Handed Debut To Nigerian Defender Jordan Aina Vs Norwich City
Chelsea U18s coach, Andy Myers has explained why he handed a debut to young Nigerian defender Jordan Aina in his side's 5-1 rout of Norwich City in the U18 Premier League Cup on Saturday.

Aina was an unused substitute for U18 Premier League games against Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and AstonVilla before making his competitive bow for the U18s against the Canaries.

The first-year scholar was one of the five changes to the Young Blues starting lineup and operated in the wing-back position just as his elder brother, Ola Aina did for Torino this past weekend.

''We made some changes in order to give people game time and from a development point of view it was nice to see Jordan Aina, Pierre Ekwah Elimby and Lewis Bate, an Under-16, come in and do well,'' Myers told Chelsea's official website.

''The performance was good. We stuck to our game plan of putting them under pressure and it was nice to see that pay off in terms of the goals we scored on the high press.''

Faustino Anjorin was in the Chelsea side that won the U18 Premier League Cup last season but was not in the squad that faced Norwich City.
