Parent Club Rule: Chelsea Set To Block Nigerian Defender From Playing For Derby County
Published: September 30, 2018Championship outfit Derby County have been drawn away to Premier League side Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Nigerian defender Fikayo Tomori helped the Rams reach this stage of the competition, going the distance against Oldham Athletic, Hull City and Manchester United but is unlikely to feature against his parent employer, going by past precedent.
Last season, Chelsea blocked Super Eagles star Ola Aina and Tomori from playing for Hull City when they met the Tigers in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
England U21 star Tammy Abraham was not in the Swansea City team for both games against Chelsea in the Premier League last season while Victor Moses was ineligible to face The Blues during his loan spells with Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham.
English Football League rules state : ''During the period of any Temporary Loan Transfer, a Player shall not play against his Transferor Club without the prior written permission of the Transferor Club (which, if given, must be indicated on the appropriate Temporary Loan Transfer form).''
Victor Moses played his part as Chelsea made it into the fourth round draw that took place on Saturday after beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield.
