Chelsea 1 Liverpool 1: Moses Impresses In 17-Minute Cameo; Solanke Still Out-of-Favor
Published: September 29, 2018Substitute Victor Moses contributed his quota as Chelsea were forced Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in the English Premier League on Saturday.
It is on record that Moses had featured for Liverpool in the past, albeit on loan. He was listed in the 18-man Chelsea squad for the match.
However, the versatile player was named as one of the substitutes by Chelsea Manager Maurizio Sarri.
Moses, 27, is yet to start a game for Chelsea in all competitions this season, having been crucial to the team in the previous campaign under the guidance of Antonio Conte.
It was thoroughly an entertaining first half with the Reds creating more chances than the Blues at Stamford Bridge. Saido Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino came close with chances for the Merseyside outfit.
Eden Hazard broke the deadlock for the homers with a clinical finish following a through ball from the midfield.
In the second half, Mane weaved through the Chelsea defence but was denied by goalkeeper Kepa before Hazard missed a one-on-one opportunity with Allison Becker at his mercy.
Chelsea front three showed signs of fatigue and Sarri made two quick changes. Olivier Giroud was sacrificed for Alvaro Morata.
The moment for Moses to shine arrived in the 73rd minute when he replaced Brazilian international Willian. His productive burst to the Liverpool half forced James Milner to earn a yellow card on 77 minutes.
Seven minutes later, the ex Wigan winger weaved his way to the Liverpool box but he was halted by Alexander Arnold.
