Fit Again Brentford Star Odubajo : We Were Better Than Arsenal In The Second Half
Published: September 28, 2018Former Nigeria U23 invitee Moses Odubajo made a long-awaited return to the pitch after recovering from injury as Brentford were beaten 3-1 in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday evening at the Emirates Stadium.
Brentford saw themselves trailing by two goals at the break but showed character in the second half, scoring through Alan Judge, and threatened for the rest of the half but could not get an equalizer until Lacazette restored the Gunners two-goal lead in stoppage time.
Odubajo reckons that the visitors would have won the game if they had converted their chances after halving the deficit twelve minutes after the restart.
''A lot of positives to take out from the game, I think Premier League opposition in the first half, we gave them too much time on the ball and we got punished for that but in the second half a different team showed up.,'' Odubajo told the official website of Brentford.
''The gaffer said a lot at half time and I think that gave us the courage and confidence that we needed to go on and get one goal back.
''We were the better team for the rest of the half and it's just unfortunate that we did not capitalize on the chances that we had.''
The right back added : ''It's a family team here, even 2-0 down, I always knew that we were going to get a chance to get back into the game.
''As the game went on, it felt like we would open them up and it certainly felt like we could have got an equalizer.
''At the death, when you play against Premier League teams, you make one mistake against world class players and the ball is in the back of the net and we are 3-1 down. ''
Odubajo came through his first game for more than two years unscathed and is in contention to make his second league debut for The Bees in Saturday afternoon's Championship clash against Sone Aluko's Reading.
