Two Super Eagles Stars Omitted, 7 Players Eligible For Nigeria Named In Chelsea Premier League Squad
Published: September 03, 2018Chelsea have submitted their squad list for the first half of the 2018-2019 campaign to the Premier League and two Nigeria internationals on the books of the Stamford Bridge outfit in the shape of Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina have been omitted.
Omeruo is not a home-grown player even though he was on the books of Chelsea for three years at the end of the 2014-2015 season because his loan spells at ADO Den Haag and Middlesbrough don't count towards accrued time.
There was no place for Aina on the home-grown player list, with Victor Moses, Barkley, Cahill, Christensen, Green, Loftus Cheek, Piazon and Fabregas taking up the eight spots.
Despite being born in Benin City, Moses qualified as a home-grown player because he was registered as a player of Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic for three seasons prior to his 21st birthday.
Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Ike Ugbo's names were submitted to the Premier League but won't be able to play for the Blues as they were loaned to Aston Villa, Derby County and Scunthorpe United before the close of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea U23 midfielder Tariq Uwakwe, and first-year scholars Jordan Aina and Faustino Anjorin are eligible to feature in the Premier League as U21 players.
