Pass Marks For Leicester Boys Ndidi And Iheanacho Despite Liverpool Defeat
Published: September 01, 2018Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho got rave reviews for their impressive performances in Leicester City's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The first English Premier League match in the month of September saw the Reds go 2-0 up in the first half but there was a much improved showing by Claude Puel's side in the second half.
Ndidi was in action for 90 minutes while Kelechi Iheanacho was substituted on in place of Mark Albrighton.
Daily Star wrote on its rating of Ndidi which was a 7/10:
"The Nigerian worked off his socks off as usual, making some decentĀ tackles and breaking up Liverpool's attacks well at times. Booked."
Ndidi was handed a yellow card towards the end of the game after he fouled Naby Keita with Liverpool threatening to score a third goal from a devastating counter attack.
Kelechi Iheanacho came off the substitutes bench in the 61st minute and claimed the assist for Rachid Ghezzal's goal after dispossessing Allison Barker of the ball.
For former youth international, Iheanacho, Daily Star rated him thus:
"The former Manchester City star was an inspired introduction from Puel.
"Gave the Reds defence problems and changed the game in the second half," the rating which also came with a 7 from a possible 10 stated.
Iheanacho who was expected to have started as lone striker in the absence of suspended Jamie Vardy instead of Demarai Gray scored his first goal of the season midweek in the Carabao Cup against Fleetwood Town at the King Power Stadium which the Foxes won 4-0.
Leicestershire Live rated Ndidi in glowing terms in their assessment while Iheanacho was only mentioned in the information regarding substitutions.
"Ndidi 6. Combative and once (Leicester) City had got up to speed he grew more influential."
