Arsenal 0 Manchester City 2: Iwobi Non-Playing Substitute As Gunners Lose To Champions
Published: August 12, 2018Manchester City fell to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in their 2018/2019 English Premier League opener at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Super Eagle star, Alex Iwobi was named on the substitutes bench by manager Unai Emery in his first league game in charge.
Manchester City's Nigerian duo of Tom Dele-Bashiru and Nathaniel Ogbeta were named to the young Citizens squad which edged Arsenal 6-5 in the Premier League 2 on Saturday, and so did not travel with the senior team to North London.
The 22-year-old was, however not summoned from the bench for the entirety of the the thrilling clash and so remained two games away from reaching the famous 100-game milestone for the Gunners.
Raheem Sterling opened the scoring 14 minutes in when he rattled home a terrific solo effort before Bernardo Silva doubled the advantage from a Benjamin Mendy's cut back four minutes past the hour mark.
