Ex-Arsenal Midfielder Frimpong Says France Are The Only African Team Left In World Cup
Published: June 29, 2018Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has sensationally revealed that France are the only 'African team' left in the 2018 World Cup following the elimination of Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco in the group stage.
Geographically speaking, the Ghana international is incorrect, but the Blues have several players that would have represented Africa at the 2018 World Cup if they had not committed their international future to the 1998 champions.
Of the 23 players named in France squad for the World Cup, fourteen are of African descent, including Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappé, N'Golo Kanté and Benjamin Mendy.
Writing on Twitter, Frimpong said : ''FRANCE THE ONLY AFRICAN TEAM LEFT''.
France advanced to the knockout stages after topping Group C with seven points, they will take on Argentina on Saturday in Kazan.
