Brian Idowu : Eagles Have Learnt From Their Mistakes In Past Matches Vs Argentina
Published: June 25, 2018The Nigeria squad pulled off a public relations coup ahead of their meeting with Argentina on Tuesday evening, with Amkar Perm defender, Brian Idowu, who was born in Saint Petersburg accompanying manager Gernot Rohr to this afternoon's press conference held in Russia's second largest city.
As a reminder, Nigeria have faced Argentina four times in the group stage in their last five appearances in the World Cup (1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014) and were narrowly beaten by a single goal margin on each occasion, but Idowu has stressed that those results will not determine the outcome of tomorrow's game.
''It is going to be a big game, it is going to be a very important game for both teams, hopefully we will show good football for the world to see, of course we are hoping that we get the job done and qualify from the group,'' Idowu said at the press conference.
''We have met Argentina already a lot of times in the group stages in the World Cup. It doesn't add pressure because that was in the past, we are here now to play in the present which is more important right now.

''Of course, we have watched the matches and learnt from the mistakes we did back then, and we are going to improve on it.''
Idowu, who netted on his debut for Nigeria in a friendly against Argentina last November, started the first two games contested by the Super Eagles in Russia.
