Iceland will be hoping to equal Senegal's World Cup record when they face Nigeria at the at the Volgograd Arena on Friday, June 22.
The West African powerhouse were the last World Cup debutants to remain unbeaten in their first two games at the competition in 2002 and the Nordic country would match that record if they are undefeated against Nigeria.
Sixteen years ago, Senegal beat France in their opening game of the World Cup before they were held to a 1-1 draw by Denmark in their second Group A clash.
At the 1982 World Cup, Cameroon became the first African World Cup debutant not to lose their first three games in the tournament, drawing against Peru, Poland and Italy but were eliminated having scored fewer goals.
Nigeria must not lose to Iceland, who drew with Argentina in their opener, on Friday to stand a chance of progressing to the last sixteen.
The Super Eagles have faced Iceland only once in the past, in a friendly in Reykjavík back in 1981 and they were beaten 3-0.
