England Ahead Of Nigeria In Race For Manchester United Protegee, Handed Call-Up
Published: June 18, 2018Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the English Football Association have moved ahead of their Nigerian counterparts in the race for the services of Manchester United protegee Shola Shoretire.
The talented winger is eligible to turn out for Nigeria if the grandfather rule is invoked, but has yet to play for any country at any level.
Now, the English Football Association have received glowing reports about Shoretire and have selected him to join an England U15 training camp which will hold in the coming weeks, and the player has given his word that he is committed to England ahead of Nigeria and will attend the get-together.
Known for his dribbling skills and an accurate shooter of the ball, the teenager was classed as a Manchester United U14 player last season but often trains with the U16s, and is set to be promoted to the U15s in the upcoming season.
He scored against Liverpool at the 2018 JSSL Singapore Professional Academies 7s and was on target against Birmingham City in a friendly last month.
Nigeria have an U15 team and one of the hottest prospects in Dutch football, Feyenoord Rotterdam's Lateef Omidiji, trained with the squad this month ahead of the African Youth Games.
