Super Eagles Trio Shehu, Balogun And Iheanacho Pass Fitness Tests
Published: March 31, 2018Nigeria internationals Shehu Abdullahi, Leon Balogun and Kelechi Iheanacho passed fitness tests ahead of their respective teams matches this weekend.
The trio did not taste action on Tuesday in the Super Eagles 2-0 loss to Serbia in a pre-World Cup friendly at the Hive Stadium owing to fitness concerns.
Shehu limped off with a suspected hamstring injury against Poland last Friday which led to his substitution in the 78th minute, while Iheanacho subbed out four minutes later after breaking his hand.
Mainz have officially confirmed that Leon Balogun, who failed a fitness test just before the friendly against Serbia, is in contention to start against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday.
Shehu started in midfield for Bursaspor along with international teammate Mikel Agu in their Super Lig game at Antalyaspor on Saturday afternoon.
Iheanacho starts on the bench for Leicester City against Brighton & Hove at the AMEX Stadium.
The striker will be hoping he can contribute just like he did in 15 previous matches in the Premier League this term.
Teammate Wilfred Ndidi has been named in the starting line-up for the 31st consecutive game in the topflight.
