Impressive Super Eagles GK Akpeyi Posting Great Numbers In South Africa
Published: March 17, 2018Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was impressive on Saturday afternoon after posting a shutout in his side's 1-0 win against Free State Stars on game week 24 in the South African ABSA Premiership.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper will report for international early next week in Poland full of confidence, having posted his ninth shutout in all competitions this season.
Akpeyi has logged 1508 minutes in total in the South African top-flight, and has let in only 12 goals in the league, an average of a goal conceded every 125.67 minutes.
With seventeen appearances in the Premiership, the 31-year-old has conceded 0.71 goals per match.
The highlight of Akpeyi's performance against Free State Stars today was his impressive save in the 70th minute.
The former Warri Wolves star has now recorded eight clean-sheets in games against Platinum Stars, Bloemfontein, Maritzburg Utd, Bidvest Wits FC, Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Free State Stars.
