Nigeria Coach Thomas Dennerby Spies On South Africa In Cyprus : I Know How They Play
Published: March 14, 2018Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria national women's
football team head coach, Thomas Dennerby, was among the spectators that
watched the Cyprus Women's Cup in March.
Ahead of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations, the Swedish manager was physically present in Cyprus to run the rule over the South Africa stars, with an eye on a potential meeting with Banyana Banyana at the tournament that will take place in Ghana.
Thomas Dennerby watched all South Africa's four games against Slovakia, Hungary, Korea DPR and Belgium, and has said that he now has an idea of how the opponent plays.
South Africa played goalless draws against Slovakia and Korea DPR, beat Hungary 1-0 and lost 2-1 to Belgium in their last game before returning to Africa.
Around that same period the South Africans were in Cyprus, Dennerby and his girls were supposed to be in Turkey for an invitational tournament but the Nigerian Federation stated that they cancelled the trip due to logistics, adding that they are planning towards the friendly with France in April.
Nigeria will qualify for the 2019 Fifa Women's World Cup if they finish among the top three teams at the
2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.
The defending champions will face Burkina Faso or Gambia in the second round of the qualifiers in June 2018.
