Official: Canada International Of Nigerian Descent Loaned Out By Vancouver Whitecaps
Published: July 26, 2017Major League Soccer outfit Vancouver Whitecaps have officially announced that Sam Adekugbe has joined Swedish Allsvenskan club IFK Göteborg on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
The London-born Canada international of Nigerian descent will spend less than five months at IFK Göteborg as the Swedish season ends in November.
Adekugbe was loaned out to Premier League newcomers Brighton & Hove Albion FC for the entirety of last season, and made five first team appearances for The Seagulls in all competitions, scoring one goal.
The 22-year-old wore the colours of AFC Clayton and Calgary Foothills Saints before he joined Vancouver Whitecaps in 2011.
Adekugbe represented Canada at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
