Nigeria Drawn Against South Africa, Libya & Seychelles In 2019 AFCON Qualifiers
Published: January 12, 2017The Super Eagles have been handed an opportunity to avenge their elimination in the race for the 2015 African Cup of Nations after they were drawn against South Africa in the 2019 qualifiers.
Libya and Seychelles are the remaining two teams in Group E, and the winner of the group will automatically qualify for the competition that will be staged in Cameroon.
Nigeria were one of the seeded teams in Pot 1 alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, RD Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia and Zambia.
The group’s opening fixture is 05-13 June 2017 while the teams wrap up group play on 05-13 November 2018.
The Super Eagles have won the African Cup of Nations three times, most recently in 2013, but have failed to qualify for the last two editions.
