Algerian FA Agree Terms With Ex-Belgium, Tunisia Coach Ahead Of Nigeria WCQ
Published: October 27, 2016The Algerian Football Federation have agreed terms with Belgian coach Georges Leekens to manage the Desert Foxes ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on November 12.
The Algerian Federation have been hunting for a new manager after Milovan Rajevac resigned in the wake of the national team’s 1-1 draw with Cameroon in October.
In football parlance, Leekens is now a free agent after recently mutually terminating his contract with Lokeren, and is expected in Algiers in the next 48 hours for his unveiling, Le Buteur has reported.
He was coach of the Algerian national team for a short spell in 2003, only six months.
The 67-year-old retired Belgium international has also handled the Tunisian and Belgian national teams, Cercle Brugge, Anderlecht, Roda, Gent and Trabzonspor among others.
