Leicester City Star Musa Is 29th Nigerian Player To Score In The Premier League
Published: October 22, 2016Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa scored his first goal for Leicester City in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In doing so, the former CSKA Moscow striker became the 29th player listed as a Nigerian by the Premier League to find the back of the net since the inception of the Premier League in 1992.
Efan Ekoku is officially recognized as the first Nigerian player to score in the Premier League, achieving the feat whilst defending the colours of Norwich City, before Daniel Amokachi (Everton) joined him on the list of scorers.
Four defenders - Joseph Yobo, Danny Shittu, Celestine Babayaro and Taye Taiwo- have managed to find the back of the net in the English top-flight, while nine midfielders and sixteen strikers have hit target.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni has scored the most goals, 95 in total, followed by ex-Arsenal hero Nwankwo Kanu who netted 54 times for the teams he represented.
