Exclusive : Hoffenheim, ADO Den Haag Defenders Akpoguma, Ebuehi Not Under Consideration For Algeria Match
Published: October 22, 2016Suggestions that Hoffenheim loanee Kevin Akpoguma and ADO Den Haag right fullback Tyronne Ebuehi are being considered for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Algeria are false.
Representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation have previously sounded out Akpoguma over the possibility of playing for Nigeria at senior level but have gone cold on the idea after he rejected their advances.
“The two players Akpoguma and Ebuehi will not be invited for the World Cup qualifier with Algeria, the coach (Rohr) plans to make very few changes to the squad that faced Zambia, ” a top Nigeria Football Federation insider told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Ebuehi first has to break into the first team of his club before thinking of a call up to the national team.”
Indeed, Tyronne Ebuehi has to establish himself in the first team squad of ADO Den Haag before he is considered for the Super Eagles, with the 20-year-old playing only 26 games to date in all competitions since he made his debut.
He was born in Haarlem to a Dutch mother and a Nigerian father.
