Nigeria U23 Players Expect Chelsea Ace Mikel To Credit Their Bank Accounts
Published: August 21, 2016Japanese businessman Dr. Katsuya Takasu donated $390,000 to Nigeria’s Olympic Team as his reward for the team finishing third in the football competition.
Takasu wrote out two cheques, one for $200,000 payable to coach Samson Siasia, and the other to Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.
It has come to light that Mikel will have to instruct his bankers to credit the remaining seventeen players named to the Nigeria U23s roster, as he only received the cheque on behalf of the playing staff.
“It has not yet been decided how much each player will receive. Mikel will send the funds to each of their accounts, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The Japanese surgeon was in the stands on Saturday as Nigeria beat Honduras 3-2 to win the bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
