Manchester City Striker Iheanacho Faces Huge Bill Over Agents Row
Published: June 09, 2016Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is firing on all cylinders for club and country but has problems to contend with off the pitch, with two rival agents battling over who will represent him.
It is confirmed that shortly after the 2015 Fifa Under 20 World Cup, the Taye Academy product renewed his representation agreement with First Eleven Management but later signed another contract with United Kingdom-based agency Stellar Group.
Stellar Group have claimed that Iheanacho told the company that he did not have any legally binding contract with any other intermediary before he switched agents, and has to pick up their legal fees if they lose the case that has been reported to the FA Arbitration Panel.
“Stellar Group are trying to absorb themselves of any financial obligation, whatever costs they incur in litigation will be given to Iheanacho to pay and he has to take care of his own bill too, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“They have argued that when Iheanacho approached them, he told them he did not have an agent.
“Kelechi is making moves to get in touch with First Eleven through his contacts in NFF and Taye Academy so that they can appeal to First Eleven to back down. He created a bad name for First Eleven, they are fuming. ”
After Kelechi Iheanacho broke into City’s first team at the start of the 2015-2016 season, First Eleven Management, who brokered the deal that took him to the Etihad, had started negotiations with the club to increase his wages as specified in the initial contract he penned in 2014.
The 19-year-old and his camp were asking for weekly wages of 70,000 pounds as at that time.
